Torrents are a great idea Paul, but there always needs to be a full “seeder” online or they expire and die. The weakness of the system is once the file is no longer “hot” and the original distributor decides to switch off his bittorrent seed, you have to have at least one person online that happens to have the file there and in that upload folder and MAYBE the full file will be available.

Sadly, a few weeks after you provide a new file, it’s likely you (the providing website) will be the only distributor as everyone else will have moved the file or deleted it by then. Will that be something you will continue to do?

However, it will definitely save the initial crazy rush for the files! Perhaps posting archived files as regular links after bittorrenting runs down?

I have generally had bad luck with torrents mainly with having mirror sites fail

You’re absolutely right. The blog torrent test I’ve set up always has one permanent seeder (for as long as you see the file there).

You can ‘easy download’ blog torrent with the file you want, or just download the standard bit torrent file for your bittorrent client.

An easy way to distibute larger (higher quality) audio files for the initial rush period before archiving standard files long term.
