I don’t have theme songs for any of my characters (Get Nervous), but wow is that a great idea!

I usually do start with one thing that in the heat of the moment (In The Heat Of The Night) inspires the development of a character (Temporary Heroes) and I will definitely be using this approach in the future. I’ll have to start taking note of interesting songs now (Little Too Late) in preparation for the next OOTAK campaign (Precious Time) when I might need a unique take on a shady rogue (Shadows of the Night), conquering warrior (Love Is A Battlefield), armored tank (Invincible), manipulative temptress (Lipstick Lies, Sex As A Weapon), a precocious child (Somebody’s Baby), the mysterious stranger-type (Looking For A Stranger) or every one of them and more (Have It All). I might even use it to inspire interesting NPCs when I’m a GM (Payin’ the Cost to Be the Boss). Really, I can’t wait (All Fired Up).

Hmm… It’s like there’s some kind of hidden message in this text, a heavily concealed subtext. Perhaps the scholars of the distant future will be able to decipher what @[member=”Twyst”] is trying to tell us. 😉

Grow Up by Paramore is an excellent song with a touch of exoticism and some great rhythms. It could be used for pretty much any character who’s trying to discover their own independence, find their place in the world, make a name for themselves, etc.

It would be fun to play a character that had been turned undead, but was (partially) in denial about their current state of being. Find the Time to Breathe by Hell or Highwater could serve as inspiration for that kind of character.

Hey @[member=Heather], don’t you think that Katie Tiedrich‘s Skyrim character is kinda reminiscent of Kasnas?

    (And Qurrs.)

    Omg Yes! XD

Furthermore, dwarves and horses usually don’t see eye to eye (literally).

So Kasnas will need to watch her back around those shifty-looking hay-munchers.

I apologize for the length of the background explanation….

A couple of years ago I was helping my friend Irvin with a playtest for a Palladium off shoot called RiftSpace / story development for a webcomic he was developping, now titled Ascension. I played a Close Combat Specialist (people that were trained to infiltrate and seize ships during space travel), who had become the new gunslingers (even to the point of having a top 20 rank list). Happy to say I was able to pull off going from no where near the top 20 to number 3.

My character’s backstory was that he was raised by a corporation and mental traumatized to create super psionic soldiers to be used against the feline Arkhon. The trauma resulted in a violent reaction phobia of all things feline (so fun to play with that). However after failing aspects, he was taken out and left for dead, only to be found, taken in, and trained by a well known CCS as his successor. This particular one was named Kage (Japanese for Shadow) who was one of many psionics that had disfigured themselves and assumed the name to give the appearance of being a single immortal being.

So my Kage was travelling with a crew that included another human (a Davinchian: think extremely cyber-punk and tech savvy), who discovered this secret and used all of his resources to create an in game music video compiled from roughly 300 years of footage. The song he used was ‘Waking the Demon’ by Bullet for My Valentine, the reasoning behind this was the psychotic phobic condition of my normally stoic character (the first time we came upon Arkhon my character ripped apart in a berserker style fury and walked away with a cat skin meditation rug and began collecting the canine teeth and wearing them on a necklace, and then there was the time he actually used one Arkhon Spectral Hunter, a full conversion borg, as a weapon to beat another down to scrap).

    So yeah, good times.

Hey @[member=”Sin”] – you wouldn’t happen to be a guy also known as Pip, would you? A guy who’s got a webcomic called SinComics? On a site that also hosts the aforementioned Ascension?

If so: dude! You should totally advertise that stuff around here. 🙂 (Also, maybe do some character sketches of the RPGMP3 nutters, that makes @[member=”Hal”] all kinds of happy.) 😉
