    Greetings Samurai of Rokugan!

Below you will find the Tournament Schedule for the 2013 Winter Court Season. This includes the Jeweled Championships, 10 Unique Storyline Events, and the Pacific Rim/South American Zone Championships. The specific storyline effects for each event will be posted 30-35 days prior to each tournament weekend, so make sure you check back weekly for updates. Please also take a look at the notes portion for each event, as each event is not standard EE format!

    The Jeweled Championship Events

The Jeweled Champions are among the greatest servants of the Divine Empress, blessed to serve the throne in the most personal of capacities. In each case, a Champion represents one of the aspects of the samurai caste and strives to manage the expectations of the whole of Rokugan’s samurai population. The Emerald Champion is the greatest of bushi, the Jade Champion the greatest of shugenja, the Amethyst Champion the greatest of courtiers, and so on. In recent years, the champions have held their respective events annually in order to find those skilled enough to serve as their lieutenants within their individual organizations. In this season of discontent, with the lingering threat of the Dark Naga, the scandalous heresy of the Fudo cult, and the terrifying existence of P’an Ku’s influence in the mortal world, there is little opportunity for the champions to engage in such frivolities. However, their burden in executing their duties will cause them to reach out to allies among the Great Clans, and many favors will be incurred as a result of the tumultuous times in which the Empire finds itself.

The winner of each of these tournaments will determine the clan affiliation of an individual who offers aid to the Jeweled Champion for whom the event is named. In each case, the Jeweled Champion will owe a significant favor to the clan in question. In the case of certain individual championships, the Jeweled Champion may be changing due to events in the ongoing storyline; this will be specified in individual event announcements.

The Resolution Series: Unique Tournaments for the L5R CCG

Over the history of the Legend of the Five Rings brand, there have been many storylines that have reached an epic and satisfying conclusion, most with the full participation of L5R’s amazing and engaging fanbase. Due to the nature of the ongoing storyline, however, it is inevitable that some plotlines fail to achieve proper resolution, and some simply fall by the wayside entirely. It is unfortunate, but a part of the ongoing, constantly reshaped narrative that has made L5R unique in the CCG world.

This season, a series of tournaments will be taking place that are intended to revisit some of these forgotten plotlines, bringing closure where none was had in previous arcs. These plotlines will come from both the desires of the Story Team to find closure, and from those stories that the fans have asked for repeatedly over the years.

It’s time for memories to come alive.
